Rheem quality of subcontractors

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

ARS Rooter, a subcontractor who installed Rheem, has poor service. Even though they advertise a 5-year labor warranty, they don't find the issue until your labor warranty expires.

Rheem is poorly built, especially their heat pump unit. How does a service company miss a coolant leak for 5 years, and once the labor warranty expires, they find the leak and want to charge me 2500 for labor, since Rheem provides a 10-year warranty.

Pros:
  • Cheaper in price
Cons:
  • Unreliable poor quality

Preferred solution: Cover labor cost since this has been ongoing issue since installation.

Warranty for gas water heater

I contacted their customer service several times about my water heater leak in February 2024. My warranty on the water heater was still in effect, but all I got was the run-around on the phone.

They waited until my warranty expired before they called me back. Rheem never responded or resolved my issue.

I requested a supervisor to call me, but they never responded at all. Then, I kept calling and was on hold for 90 minutes, but no supervisor ever picked up.

Broken AC

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I purchased a Rheem heat pump approximately five years ago. We have had multiple issues with the unit.

We have had two different Rheem contractors try to fix the unit; one even had a district service technician meet him and try to solve the problems. Now, we have no working air conditioning in the middle of summer.

Yesterday, a technician came out and stated that the part he needs cannot be located in the United States, and he has no idea how long it will be before the air will work again. I am requesting a new unit as I believe this unit has been faulty from the start, and we have no idea when it can be fixed.

Rheem Warranty is a LIE

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I have a 2 year old heat pump/water heater that has failed.I reached out to rheem & they informed me that since my family purchased the unit (my mother) and I now own the home that the warranty is voided!! It is amazing the extent this fly by night company go to not to stand behind their product. This great sounding warranty that entices families to spend the extra $$$ for a unit that is less efficient than other heaters in that price range is absolutely worthless.I personally purchase many of these products annuallyand from this day forward I will never purchase anything associated with this brand or its subsidiaries period.I wish i could go back and return all of my previous purchases and use a quality product with real warranty that works as advertised instead ot dealing with this inferior company .Rheem should get into politics the way they lie and mislead the public.$3000 for a water heater that lasts 2 years?Thats alot of money for something heading to a landfill.Good job RheemUnfortunately it wont be your expensive inferior product taking its place.

Pros:
  • Warranty if they stood behind it
Cons:
  • Expensive for what you receive & the warranty is useless

Preferred solution: At this stage nothing. This company goes the extra mile not to help and find reasons to void their 10 year warranty over BS.I hope other consumers read this and go with a reputable company that stands behind their products!

Product broke within a year

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I spent 12k on my AC and heat with Rheem. My unit broke the first summer with the new unit in the middle of a heat wave.

I called Rheem; they told me they only cover parts and I have to find my own contractor. The customer service is abysmal and their product is garbage.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

just don't buy a rheem ours broke down 14 months after purchase. then we had to repair it at least 4 times due to parts leaking.

why would a new unit have holes all in it? and rheem doesnt care.

sure they cover the part but it's the constant labor and freon costs that get you. every repair is around $1k.

We are going through the same thing!!! They are terrible.

We have been without air for over one month!!!

$1600.00 for the fan and coil leaking. We are prepared to seek legal counseling and bring this to the attention of the Consumer Media for the news.

Broken part that is still under warranty

Rheem - Broken part that is still under warranty
Rheem - Broken part that is still under warranty - Image 2

We purchase a brand new Heat pump ac/heat system for $11,800 on 7/24/2020, not quite 4 years old. Something broke on the system and the unit is not working during this horrible heatwave.

It is still under warrantee. I have the warrantee certificate and the receipt. This company warantees the part that is broken however it is costing over $2,000 to have it installed for labor!!! Now do you think that is fair??

Such a young expensive unit having a part break under 4 years old??

I feel that this company Rheem should at least split the labor with us, or send your people to fix it!

Jodie and Richard Brook 516-225-**** 516-528-**** we really hope that we hear from you to do the right thing!! We can provide all the documentation, proof of purchase and warantee certificate.

Hello,

I bought a Rheen rtex-36 serial number g45230**** from Grainger. I waited an hour for the tech to trouble shoot this morning the tech sugested the was a blockage in the intake water valve.

My plumber found debree and small black ring inside the intake valve. He removed it attached the water line and got water pressure but no hot water!

The electrician checked all the connections and the electricity was good. The unit turns on, can change temp on the display, water moves through the unit but does not heat up I want to return this product and want my money back

Not supplying part to repair AC

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

My air conditioner is under warranty and has not been working for a month. The company that installed it has not been able to get the necessary part because Rheem is not shipping it to distribution centers.

This is a nationwide problem. When I called customer service, they required the part number, which, as a customer, I don't have! They said the installer has to go through the distribution center to inquire, which they have been doing for a month with no results.

So, they suggested I might get some action by calling Rheem customer service directly. Well, that did nothing!

Unsatisfied Customer

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

In the past eight years, I have purchased three identical Rheem 285 litre (60 imperial gallons) hot water tanks - once in 2016, a warranty replacement in 2020, and a third tank in 2024. Each of the first two tanks lasted no more than four years.

This is far below the normal useful life range for any brand of a hot water tank. After some discussion, the Rheem agent offered me a rebate of $425 provided that I gave proof of purchase of an identical Rheem hot water tank. I bought that tank yesterday from Home Depot. If it werent for the fact that I was offered this rebate, I definitely would have selected a different brand.

I strongly urge Rheem to provide me with a full rebate if they are at all interested in promoting customer satisfaction, and brand loyalty. Thank you for listening to me.

Mike S.
