Central A/C Unit rusting after 1 year, poor manufacturing,.Rheem has 5 year warranty on parts and 10 year on compressor but requires you to hire an independent contractor to come out make assessment.
Contractor time and effort is not covered under warranty and even if you do have contractor come out, then rust is still not cover, even on relatively new unit. Basically, their warranty is worth ***!
It is clear by the way the rust developed that it was defect in the manufacturing process where the edge of the cover was not properly treated, because why would an external central air conditioning unit rust under a year, when the same unit next to it by the same manufacturer has not rust developing.Clearly Rheem does not stand by their manufacturing process, cost them nothing to give your 5/50 year warranty when you have to pay for independent contractor to make assessment and then still tell you that rust is not covered.
Review about: Rheem Air Conditioner Warranty.
Reason of review: Poor customer service.
Monetary Loss: $1000.
Preferred solution: Send me a replacement cover, it easily comes off and is replaceable..
I didn't like: Warranty and customer service is non-existent.
